About Us
Two Trees is the realization of an assignment received in 2009, the culmination of 10 years of prayer and intercession, alongside its design, planning, and construction. The site itself came through a series of divine appointments, accompanied again by much prayer and intercession. Through the process, many new relationships were, and continue to be established, with different members of the community, not the least of which with the local iwi, the Tu Wharetoa.
Today, Two Trees comprises 4 guest pavilions divided into two side-by-side blocks that can be linked to accommodate small families. Each pavilion offers about 1000sf of space with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living area. There is also a spacious wooden porch that looks out over rolling greens and onto Lake Taupo. There is also a main house that is primarily catered to the family of the proprietors, Yuk Lynn and Roy Chen.
The guest experience is designed to offer the most tranquil and uninterrupted stay possible, beginning each day with a gourmet breakfast that can be as simple or elaborate as desired. Lunch and dinner are optional, with the possibility of onsite catering by one of our local chefs utilizing the freshest ingredients largely sourced locally that will be sure to appease the most delicate palates.
Equally astounding is the natural beauty of Two Trees and its surroundings. While Lake Taupo takes center-stage, the twin peaks of nearby Ruhapehu and Tongariro (of Mt Doom’s fame as featured in the LOTR movies) feature spectacularly as the backdrop to the east. Meanwhile, geo-thermal springs, hiking trails, fishing streams aplenty offer different means of experiencing the unspoilt landscape all around. For those more adventurous, hunting deer in the bush, skydiving, go-cart racing, kite-boarding and more are easily accessible.
Yet, among the rich and varied offerings, Two Trees is first and foremost a place of peace and rest. More than simply a measure of the amount of activity, the spirit of Two Trees is the stillness of the inner being, the ability to be at rest irrespective of the external environment, the rest that comes from fully trusting in the Lord, in the Creation and in the finished work of the Cross. The same rest that Father bids us, as beloved sons and daughters, to enter into. Ultimately, that is the purpose and calling of Two Trees. As stewards of this project and partakers in this revelation, we invite you to come and labor into that rest, laying all else at the feet of Christ.
